Written on October 26th, 2011 by May Yeung. No Comments »Over the last several years, I’ve often been asked by girlfriends and women attending our trunk shows, “How do you layer and what necklaces should I include in creating a layered look?” Many times the question is followed by the words “It looks too complicated and I don’t think I can duplicate your look.” After a little coaxing from my sister, I embraced her brilliant idea and designed a Silver Starter Layering Kit that includes 3 necklaces that can be worn 16 different ways. Photos of the 16 different looks are included to make it simple and fun to accessorize.
ENJOY and be CREATIVE with layering!

My FAVORITE 5 Cheeses for a Summer Party or Picnic
Written on August 19th, 2010 by May Yeung. No Comments »One of my favorite outings on the weekends is visiting the neighborhood cheese shop. It’s truly like a candy store for me! I have the pleasure of purchasing the cheeses and savoring the samples that are given me by the shop’s cheese connoisseur.
With dinner parties and picnics on the summer social calendar, I’ve had several opportunities to bring my favorite cheeses to share with friends and family. If you enjoy cheese, I hope the following list is helpful for your next cheese selection.
1. Il Boschetto al Tartufo = An Italian mild semi-soft cheese, a blend of sheep and cow’s milk loaded with white truffle bits. The heady aroma and delightful flavor will be enjoyed by all and is ALWAYS a hit at my dinner parties.
2. Havarti = A Danish semi-soft cow’s milk cheese with irregular holes throughout. Havarti is named after the farm in Denmark where Hanne Nielsen first made the cheese. I like this creamy textured cheese in a decadent panini sandwich.
3. Petit Basque = Originating from France, a sheep’s milk cheese that is tightly textured with a fruity, olivey, and slightly woodsy flavor. Serves well as a picnic cheese with wafer crackers or baguette slices.
4. Manchego = A Spanish sheep’s milk cheese with a firm and buttery texture. It is mild, slightly briny and has a nutty flavor. Shaved slices top off a summer salad wonderfully.
5. Brie = Is best known French cow’s milk cheese and has the nickname “The Queen of Cheeses.” It is a great dessert cheese; try pairing it with a blackberry or fig jam for a sweet taste. Double and triple cream bries are definitely a crowd pleaser!
Storing Summer Statement Jewelry
Written on July 23rd, 2010 by May Yeung. No Comments »I am always looking for different ways to store jewelry and I recently came across an article that showcased different ways to creatively organize jewelry. One versatile idea was to use a modern bamboo utensil organizer to arrange this season’s large statement necklaces and bracelets.
Pictured is how I used the organizer for my own jewelry. The necklaces can be paired together to create a favorite layered look or each section can be color coordinated. You can also store your stretchy or chain bracelets in another section so that all of your summer go-to jewelry is easily accessible. I have found that it is much easier to create a polished look when you can see all of your jewelry at once. You can place the tray in a drawer or on top of a dresser.
The simple and elegant utensil tray I used can be found at Target for $12.

Create A Layered Look For Summer

I truly love to help women accessorize, so I decided to film this short video with Viviana M. Rueda and share my tips on how to wear layered necklaces and achieve versatile looks.
I hope you enjoy viewing our first video and are inspired to creatively layer necklaces in your jewelry wardrobe this summer!
Majorica Pearls
Written on June 11th, 2010 by May Yeung. No Comments »I’ve been honoring June’s birthstone – Pearls – this week by sharing information and photos of the gem along with offering a pearl promotion to our Twitter followers, Facebook Fans, and our MYJ members. You probably have discovered by now that I have an extreme fondness and passion for pearls!
In high school, I received my first strand of white Majorica pearls from my parents and it was my father who gave me a lesson on the origin and quality of Majorica pearls. My father emphasized over and over that it was a special strand of pearls and that it was only to be worn on special occasions. It was probably the most expensive piece of jewelry I owned at the time and truthfully, I wasn’t ever planning to wear the pearls except to please my father. Fast forward several years and I now love all types, sizes, colors, and shapes of pearls.
The Majorica pearl was first made on the Spanish Island of Majorca over a century ago and it has a close resemblance to natural pearls. Majorica pearls are man-made using a special iridescent glass bead as the pearl’s core. The glass bead is then coated on the surface with approximately 30 applied layers of a paste made of oil, fish scales, or mother-of–pearl. The glass bead and natural layers replicate the surface and weight of a cultured pearl. The cost is a fraction of the price of a strand of cultured pearls.
Majorica pearls are a timeless fashion accessory that won’t break the bank!

Cleaning Tarnished Jewelry
Written on June 4th, 2010 by May Yeung. No Comments »
Not a month goes by without someone asking me, “How do I clean my silver and gold jewelry that has turned color?” While I have tried a couple methods in the past using a polishing cloth and dipping my jewelry in a liquid cleaner, I’ve discovered a new trick that is simple to perform at home.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1. Baking Soda
2. Boiling Water
3. Aluminum Foil
4. Glass Casserole Dish
5. Soft Cloth
Here’s what you’ll do:
1. Line a casserole glass dish with foil and place jewelry on top
2. Sprinkle with baking soda
3. Cover jewelry with boiling water and soak for 10 minutes
4. Remove and pat dry with a soft cloth
Last week I experimented with this method and was thrilled to see my sterling silver and gold filled chain bracelets (pictured) looking shiny and new again. Amazingly, the tarnish (and dirt) gets transferred to the foil. This also works on pieces with pearls and semi-precious stones – just sprinkle baking soda on the metal parts and avoid the stones. You can repeat the process for more shine and sparkle.
Happy Cleaning!
My Tote
Written on May 28th, 2010 by May Yeung. 1 Comment »With Memorial Day weekend and summer vacations upon us, I wanted to share my favorite fashionable and versatile travel tote – My Tote.
I had the pleasure several years ago in meeting the Designer and Co- Founder Laura Thomas Mullen, and since then have gifted her fun and functional totes to my sister and many girlfriends. Her fabrics and patterns are flirty and bright and always bring a smile to my face.
When packing for trips, I use one or two of the Chamberlain Swim Tote (pictured). The totes are lined to resist wetness and are perfect for repacking wet swimsuits. They are also ideal for carrying beauty products, laundry, lingerie, shoes, sunscreen, or even to enclose a gift.
Wishing you and your family a relaxing and festive holiday weekend!
